Water Refreshes the Earth

I lie in wait, alone and calm.
The steady rain drowns out my thoughts.
Clouds create a dampening balm;
Water falls to refresh the earth.

Footsteps are softened by the moss.
Dense, green ferns grow like a carpet.
Here, I almost forget my loss;
Water falls to refresh the earth.

Tall, green trees are surrounding me;
I can barely see the gray sky.
Rain drops from the leaves steadily;
Water falls to refresh the earth.

In me, anger was an ember.
Things got hard and I stole away.
But now I always remember,
Water falls to refresh the earth.

  1. Amy, your poems paint such vivid images; they are really good! Do you have a special place you go to write them?
