One-A-Day May: Day One

thunder crashes down around me; the humid air sticks to my skin. i smell the moisture in the air and know that rain is imminent. gray clouds show their warning; heavy rain drips down from above, splashing down on the trees' leaves, the spring flowers' pedals, the dirt turning into mud. birds and bugs are silent as they watch the rain in enchanment. all is still as i stand in my meadow and feel the precipitation roll off my skin; arms spread wide to welcome this much needed water. a gentle breeze directs the stream falling down from above. the downpour steadily turns into a soft pitter-patter, a drizzle, a fine mist frosting all of nature. the gray clouds part, revealing sun that turns the rain into nothing but a memory; a memory lost in time.
